Christmas Cards

Hello! Sorry I haven't been posting lately, I have been very busy. But now it's holidays - (yay!) which means Christmas, summer and lots of DIYs!

Every year I make homemade Christmas cards for my family, and I thought this would be a, quick, cute and easy DIY to share. These cards are really in the Christmas spirit, and fun to 'kreate' and give to friends and family.

Some cards need more instruction than others. However instructions are listed for every card below, no matter how simple they are, so enjoy!

Reindeer After Dark card (my fav!)

Materials:

Blank card

Google eyes

Red circular bead/Red paper & a hole puncher

Black paper

Scissors/slicer

PVA glue

Glue stick

Instructions:

1. Cut your black piece of paper to size the card. I left a thin border around the black.

2. Now place the googly eyes where you want them to be, remember the light is off, so there has to be space for where their antlers would be. Also work out which one will be Rudolph.

3. Now using PVA glue, glue each of the googly eyes onto the black paper. Now glue your bead/red paper punched as a circle as Rudolphs nose below a pair of gooogly eyes.

4. Now wait for the glue to set and your done! You can always do variations of this card, but I think the idea is really cute.

Stress Free Holiday card

This card is quite simple, I just recreated it from my source (link below). You can do the same, but I still suggest you read the instructions, because I have included a few tips along the way.

Materials:

Pencil

(Thin) Felt tip pen/black pen

Gel pen

Eraser

Ruler

Instructions:

1. Draw the tangle of lights and plug. Don't get too carried away with tangling the lights though (like I did) just keep it simple. Make sure there is sufficient space above the lights so you can write your lines.

2. Now draw and colour in little triangles along the lines, you can do as many and as little as you like.

3. Now using your gel pens, draw and colour in a bulb shape on top of each triangle. I decided to use the colours red, green, yellow and blue.

4. Next lightly draw two lines above the tangle with your pencil and ruler.

5. Write the words 'I hope your holidays are stress free...' And then rub out the ruled lines.

Voila! Now you have a super easy and funny DIY christmas card!

Snowman card

Materials:

Blank card (A4 card folded in half)

Scissors

Compass

Glue stick

Ribbon (for the scarf)

Double sided foam tape (you can get some at a $2 shop)

Pale blue / white sparkly paper (for a background)

White, black, orange and brown paper

Hole puncher

Pencil

Washi tape for a border (optional)

Instructions:

1. Using your background paper, which for me was sparkly white paper, measure and cut it to the appropriate size to fit the front of the blank card and stick it on.

2. Secondly, using your compass, draw three circles. The first with a radius of about 6cm. The second with a radius of about 5cm, then the third with a radius of 4cm. Now cut them out.

3. Now using your foam tape, tape the largest circle to the card. The reason I used foam tape instead of normal glue, is because the tape makes it look more layered and it's easy to stick scarves or arms under the circles.

4. Now cut two bits of ribbon to look like a scarf. The ribbon will sit under the second circle. Once you have planned where the ribbon will be, stick it down with foam tape.

5. Now stick the second largest circle down with foam tape, and the smallest circle on top of it.

6. Now using a hole puncher, punch 8 holes in the black paper, do NOT discard the circles, as they will be the snowman's eyes, mouth and buttons.

7. Arrange two circles for the eyes, four for the mouth and 1 on the bottom of the second circle (as a button) and the last one on the largest circle as another button. Now using a glue stick stick them on. If for some reason you can't find a hole puncher, just draw the circles - (but the hole punched circles look best).

8. Now draw and cut out the snowman's nose out of the orange paper. Glue it on.

9. Now using your washi tape, measure and cut it so it will border your background paper. Stick it on.

10. With your brown paper, draw two stick like arms of the appropriate size. When you stick them on, make sure they are slightly under the circles, it's ok if it overlaps the border. And there you go! You can write a little message if you like (eg. Sending you holiday hugs, Merry Christmas, happy holidays) but I chose to leave mine how it is. Although it isn't the most Australian card, I think it's really unique and looks super cool - (excuse the pun).

Christmas is Cancelled card

This card isn't really DIY, but I made it for my brother (who doesn't really appreciate homemade cards). The link of the image I found is attached below. I just printed it out, stuck it on the card and used a bit of washi tape to make it look like a sign. Although it isn't DIY, it's still pretty funny and is definitely going to make your card recipient laugh.

So there you go! I hope you are now inspired to put some more thought and creativity into your Christmas cards, and have fun 'kreating' them. Thank you for looking at my blog and remember to keep checking.

I hope you have a wonderful summer holiday and of course... Merry Christmas!
