Erasable To Do List
Hello! This is my very 1st blog post and (hopefully) there will be many more to come. So thanks for looking at my blog and remember to keep checking for more inspiration!
Today I'm going to share with you a super easy original DIY creation I did. I don't know about you, but I'm constantly making to-do lists to organise myself on random scrap bits of paper and sticking them on my door. So when I saw this cute frame for $5 at Target, inspiration struck! I thought it would be the perfect size for a to-do list, and would be easy to rewrite on the glass with a whiteboard marker. The instructions are listed below, enjoy!
*UPDATE AS OF 14/1/18*
I have created a more up to date to do list which I have attached a picture of below. You use the same general method to make it, but to create the actual look on paper, I have written the instructions at the end of the post:)
Materials:
Picture frame
Piece of paper
Scissors
Ruler
Washi tape
Pens/pencils/markers
Whiteboard marker
Instructions:
Step 1. First you need to make your piece of paper the size of the picture frame so it can fit in it, I did this simply by tracing around the frame on to the paper.
Step 2. Now this is the fun part! We need to decorate and divide the piece of paper to make it look like a to-do list. I roughly marked out how many sections I wanted (not very well, I didn't use a ruler - but I strongly suggest you do!) and used washi tape to divide the sections. I then added a pretty title and a small margin on the left to tick off when you've finished something. Once you've finished your design, cut it out.
This is what my paper looks like
Step 3. Now insert the paper into the frame and lock it in place. And voila! Now you have very own reusable to do list!
When you want to rewrite, simply grab a tissue and rub off, then use your whiteboard marker to rewrite. If you want to change the design of the to do list, take out the original paper and repeat step 2!
Instructions for 'let's do this version':
Materials:
- Washi tape
- felt tip pen
- ruler
- pencil and eraser
- small stickers (I got mine from Kikki.k)
- template of your heading words in desired font (can be online or printed)
Method:
1. Trace the glass around the paper to give you a size for your design.
2. This is optional, but to give it a cleaner look, I measured in one cm from all the sides and ruled lines to create a smaller rectangle. This way nothing will be cut off by the frame when you put it in.
3. Using your template (I just wrote 'let's do this' on a font I liked in word, and put the paper on my laptop) trace your heading on the paper in pencil.
4. Now using washi tape, stick it down across the words, I used two different colours (which when crossed over created a third blush colour). Ensure you can still see the pencil under the tape.
5. Then using a felt tip pen, trace the pencil and colour it in.
6. Create a table of ruled lines for where you will write your to do list. Keep in mind the size of the frame and your handwriting. My lines were spaced 1.4mm apart, and the column for the 'tick' stickers was also 1.4mm.
7. This is a bit particular, but I then measured the centre of each square so I knew exactly where to put my stickers. I then stuck them down.
8. Using a fine felt tip pen, I ruled over the pencil lines.
9. Finally, rub out the pencil marks and put it in the frame. You're done!
Thanks for reading and I hope you've been inspired to make your own - hopefully you'll use it as much as I do!
